1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Reef Focus iPhone app, its widgets and system extensions, and this Reef Focus website. “We,” “us,” and “Reef Focus” refer to the Reef Focus development team. Questions can be sent to reeffocus.support@gmail.com.
2. Information kept on your device
Reef Focus stores the information needed to provide your experience, which may include focus sessions, goals, streaks, challenges, expedition history, selected pets, pet names and customization, app preferences, reminders, profile details you choose to add, chats, notes, and attachments you choose to save.
Widgets, Live Activities, Dynamic Island, StandBy, and related system surfaces receive only the information needed to show your current dive or selected companion. This information is shared through Apple-provided on-device mechanisms.
3. Optional iCloud and Study Groups
If you enable iCloud Backup, selected app data is copied to your private Apple iCloud/CloudKit container so it can be restored. If you use Study Groups, group membership, names you provide, invitation information, focus status, and group activity needed for collaboration may be stored and synchronized using Apple CloudKit.
Apple processes this information under its own privacy terms. You can disable automatic backup in Reef Focus settings. Group information may remain available to other group participants until it is removed through the group controls or according to Apple’s service behavior.
4. Permissions and Apple services
Screen Time
Focus Shield uses Apple Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings. The apps and websites you select are represented by privacy-preserving tokens and are managed on your device. Reef Focus does not receive a readable list of your selected apps or browsing activity.
Photos, camera, and files
You may choose photos, take a picture, or attach files for study features. Reef Focus accesses only items you select or create. Supported Apple Intelligence features may analyze prompts or images using Apple’s on-device system capabilities. Reef Focus does not send those materials to a Reef Focus-operated AI server.
Notifications and calendars
If you grant permission, Reef Focus uses Apple notification, reminder, or calendar capabilities to provide features you request. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
Location and weather
If you use a feature that shows current weather, Reef Focus may use a location you provide or permit. Latitude and longitude are sent to Open-Meteo to return current weather. Map and location lookup features may also use Apple MapKit and location services. Reef Focus does not use location for advertising or tracking.
5. Purchases
Purchases, subscriptions, trials, regional pricing, receipts, and restoration are handled through Apple StoreKit and the App Store. Reef Focus receives purchase status needed to unlock features, but it does not receive your full payment-card details.
6. Website and support requests
This website does not set advertising cookies or use cross-site tracking. Like most hosted services, infrastructure providers may process basic request information such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and security logs to deliver and protect the site.
When you submit the support form, the name, reply-to email, device details, topic, and message you provide are sent to reeffocus.support@gmail.com through FormSubmit. FormSubmit processes the submission to deliver it and may retain submission records under its own policy. Do not include passwords, payment-card numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information.
7. How information is used
We use information only to provide requested features, maintain your settings and progress, unlock purchases, respond to support, protect the service, comply with law, and improve reliability. Reef Focus does not sell your personal information and does not use it for third-party targeted advertising.
8. Retention and deletion
Local information remains until you delete the relevant records, reset the app, or remove the app and its data. iCloud and Study Group data follows your choices, group actions, and Apple’s retention behavior. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request, maintain support records, or meet legal obligations.
To request access, correction, or deletion of information controlled by Reef Focus, use the support form and select “Privacy or data request.” We may need to verify the request. Some app data is controlled directly through your device or Apple Account and cannot be accessed by us.
9. Children
Reef Focus is a general productivity app suitable for a broad audience and is not designed to collect personal information from children for advertising. If you believe a child provided personal information through support without appropriate permission, contact us so we can review and remove it where applicable.
10. Security, transfers, and changes
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information involved, but no device, storage system, or internet transmission is completely secure. Apple, Open-Meteo, FormSubmit, and hosting providers may process information in countries other than your own under their respective terms.
We may update this policy as Reef Focus evolves or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be updated when changes are published. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or on this website.
